►”Relationship” Lyrics:
Verse 1:
You’re talkin’ to me
Like you already own me
Then you go and see your friends
And tell them that “he just a friend”
Then you say you’re lonely
You ask “whatcha doin’”
Tell me to come over
This bed is better when you’re in it.
Pre-Chorus 1:
Then we get to kissin’
Then we get to touchin’
Then we get to bumpin’ real fast
She had real fine assets
Then we get to laughin’
Then we get the passion
Then we get to talking real deep, like that
Like that
Chorus 1:
So tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Verse 2:
You got me confused by the
Swing in your mood
First you wanna hold my hand
Then you say your over it
A few days have gone by
I’m tryin’ to get my heart right
Then you call me out the blue
And say baby I’m missin’ you
Pre-Chorus 2:
Then we get to kissin’
Then we get to touchin’
Then we get to bumpin’ real fast
She pull me right back
Then we get to laughin’
Then we get the passion
Then we get to talking real deep, like that
Chorus 2:
So tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Post Chorus 1:
Tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Oh tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Oh tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Pre-Chorus 3:
Then we get to kissin’
Then we get to touchin’
Then we get to bumpin’ real fast
Then we get to laughin’
Then we get the passion
Then we get to talking real deep, like that
Chorus 3:
So tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Tell me how this ain’t a relationship
I just wanna be the one you end up with
Post Chorus 2:
Tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Oh tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship
Oh tell me tell me how, tell me how
Tell me tell me how this ain’t a relationship

We previously did a video on signs of relationship compatibility. But what about signs that you’re not compatible. While compatibility is no guarantee of longevity, studies show that it is directly related to the quality and satisfaction of our relationships. Simply put, the more compatible you and your partner are; the happier you’re likely to be with them.

People may know what a healthy romantic relationship looks like, but most don’t know how to get one. Psychologist and researcher Joanne Davila describes how you can create the things that lead to healthy relationships and reduce the things that lead to unhealthy ones using three evidence-based skills – insight, mutuality, and emotion regulation. Share this with everyone who wants to have a healthy relationship.
Dr. Joanne Davila is a Professor of Psychology and the Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCLA.
Dr. Davila’s expertise is in the area of romantic relationships and mental health in adolescents and adults, and she has published widely in this area. Her current research focuses on romantic competence among youth and emerging adults, the development of relationship education programs, the interpersonal causes and consequences of depression and anxiety, and well-being and relationship functioning among lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals.
Dr. Davila is a Fellow in the Association for Psychological Science and the Incoming Editor (2016-2022) for the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology.
Dr. Davila also is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based interventions for relationship problems, depression, and anxiety.

NOTE FROM TED: Please consult with a mental health professional and do not look to this talk for medical advice as the intersection of mental health and nutrition is still an emerging field of study. We’ve flagged this talk for falling outside TEDx’s curatorial guidelines because it oversimplifies interpretations of legitimate studies. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdf
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this critically important talk, clinical psychologist Julia Rucklidge explores a range of scientific research, including her own, showing the significant role played by nutrition in mental health or illness.
Julia J Rucklidge, PhD is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Originally from Toronto, she did her training in neurobiology (McGill) and Clinical Psychology (University of Calgary). Her interests in nutrition and mental illness grew out of her own research showing poor outcomes for children with significant psychiatric illness despite receiving conventional treatments for their conditions. For the last 6 years, she has been investigating the role of micronutrients in the expression of mental illness, specifically ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and more recently, stress and PTSD associated with the Canterbury earthquakes.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) Video Rating: / 5
Lissa Rankin, MD is an OB/GYN physician, author, keynote speaker, consultant to health care visionaries, professional artist, and founder of the women’s health and wellness community OwningPink.com. Discouraged by the broken, patriarchal health care system, she left her medical practice in 2007 only to realize that you can quit your job, but you can’t quit your calling. This epiphany launched her on a journey of discovery that led her to become a leader in the field of mind/body medicine, which she blogs about at OwningPink.com and is writing about in her third book Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself (Hay House, 2013).
She teaches both patients and health care professionals how to make the body ripe for miracles by healing the mind and being healthy in all aspects of life, not just by promoting healthy behaviors like good nutrition, exercise, and adequate sleep, but by encouraging health and authenticity in relationships, work, creative expression, spirituality, sexuality, finances, and living environment. She is leading a revolution to feminize how health care is received and delivered by encouraging collaboration, fostering self-healing, reconnecting health care and spirituality, empowering patients to tap into the mind’s power to heal the body, and encouraging women not to settle for being merely well, but to strive for living vital, joyful, authentic lives full of “mojo.”
When not spreading the word, she chills out, paints, does yoga, and hikes in Marin County, CA with her husband and daughter.
